In both examples, the key initiator for the paradigm shift was a DREAM. Long story short, our efforts paid off and the engineering centre has been established. I gathered a team and went to the States to present to senior GE officials that we could perform analytical tasks for GE. Again, it all started with a DREAM and an activity of positive networking based on good reputation.
The other example is the establishment of a joint design centre with General Electric in Gebze (Turkey). Paradigm Shift: an important change that happens when the usual way of thinking about or doing something is replaced by a new and different way The 1918 pandemic. Albeit small and rather basic, it proved the point that it was possible and laid out the fundamentals for future possibilities (if pursued). We've built a small turbojet and a turboprop engine. We even developed a casting facility to cast the Turbine blades locally. However, I gathered a team dedicated to developing these technologies and created a DREAM for everyone which enabled us to establish the fundamental capabilities. The company had been operating as a low cost manufacturing, test & assembly centre until that time.ĭue to the limited exposure to design, nobody really believed this could be done. When I was the Design Engineering Manager of TEI (a GE joint venture in Turkey), I created a paradigm shift by convincing people around me that we can design and manufacture a whole jet engine. I've got two humble examples from my experience. Have you ever worked where synergy has been achieved? What do you think made it happen? Were you the leader that created the paradigm that allowed for synergy or were you simply a part of it ? I thought I should share this with my friends here as well. The topic was about creating a paradigm shift. I've recently posted my personal story in a "7 habits group" discussion. Suddenly I saw things differently, and because I saw differently, I thought differently, I felt differently, I behaved differently.
